Let’s say your pipes have burst. Do you think about hiring some random guy from down the street or do you hire a professional? The answer is obvious. When hiring a random person to work around your home you are risking a lot. What if that person falls in your home and sustains an injury? Well, your homeowner’s insurance would undoubtedly get involved. What if you hire someone with a criminal record? You are risking the safety and security of your home and family. When hiring anyone to work in your home, you should accept nothing less than a professional.
A professional should be well trained and perhaps even have some sort of certification or accreditation. This probably means that you will be hiring a company as opposed to an individual. Otherwise you will have to get a thorough, national background check, assure that they are licensed and insured and conduct an extensive interview with them . When you hire a professional company, they will have trained the individual or team that comes to your home. Ask if the company does background checks and if they do drug testing. Ask to see a Certificate of Insurance. Your due diligence goes way down when you hire a company since they will already have conducted an extensive interview with each of their employees and done the requisite checks.
When you hire a house cleaning company, in particular, they will be in your home week after week. They will be handling your precious items and you want to be sure that they know just what they are doing. You want to be secure in the knowledge that they have been thoroughly checked out, interviewed, tested and trained. That means you can leave them in your home when you can’t be there.
